“Self-healing is a phrase applied to the process of recovery (generally from psychological disturbances, trauma, etc.), motivated by and directed by the patient, guided often only by instinct. Such a process encounters mixed fortunes due to its amateur nature, although self-motivation is a major asset. The value of self-healing lies in its ability to be tailored to the unique experience and requirements of the individual. The process can be helped and accelerated with introspection techniques such as Meditation.
Self-healing is the ultimate phase of Gestalt Therapy.
In a figurative sense, self-healing properties can be ascribed to systems or processes, which by nature or design tend to correct any disturbances brought into them. Such as the regeneration of the skin after a cut or scrape, or of an entire limb. Or (in a more abstract sense) the setting of one’s own broken bone, because once set, the bone will grow back into itself and heal. In each case, the injured party (the living body) repairs the damaged part by itself.”
My Own Personal View
I personally believe in “self healing” process in my own understanding, of course based on my many many readings about it….
I believe that when you get ill or emotional depressed, unknowingly you change your metabolism rate, your hormone level and other related processes. Hence you also mechanically change on how well your body work for you. The simplest example to explain this is when you get scared, your metabolism increases and you would break on sweat. WHY? Why is that? I believe this is because your body is very sensitive to how you are feeling at every single moment.
Therefore, when you get ill, the whole mechanisms inside you body would change too…BUT totally based on how well you cope with your illness.
If you think about this whole self-healing thing, most of cancer survivors are ACTUALLY people who refused to believe that they had cancer in the first place. The illness didn’t affect their emotions hence didn’t affect on their biological mechanisms inside their bodies. Studies have proved that self motivation is indeed a key for rapid recovery from any illness.
Of course for muslims, we have to believe that all these are qada’ and qadar from Him. But as a servant, we can always do our best to overcome it…
So, my fellow friends, when you get ill, whether it’s major or minor, don’t let yourself down. Instead, stand strong and do your best to fight it. With His help, insyaallah this “self healing” will prevail its truth….
